Byeokje Station (벽제역): A Rail Track Straight Out of a Movie

Winter is almost over. Yay! The weather’s getting warmer these days. I’ve also noticed that flowers are starting to bloom. Earlier today, my phone app also notified me that the air quality is good (fine dust was so bad recently). It’s really the perfect time to plan trips and enjoy the outdoors.

Just outside Seoul, there’s a dreamy train station that has already been closed for some time now.

Normally, creepy or thriller movies come to mind when we hear about closed train stations and abandoned rail tracks.

A deserted place with rusty ceilings and walls, a random clock, empty tracks…

…and a very serious-looking me! Lol. Once upon a time, there was a girl who waited for the love of her life at the train station. She waited until her last breath. Legend has it that she is still waiting for the train to arrive… until then, her ghost remains.

Boom! My movie’s going to be a hit. Haha!

Kidding aside, the reason why I wrote that this place is straight out of a movie is not because of the horror movie above which I just made up 5 minutes ago.

If you walk for a few minutes from the station, you will find a tunnel…

It’s a great area to take photos at. Greens + natural lighting = the best.

It’s more fun as you go inside the tunnel.

The backdrop of Bukhansan makes all the difference…

and transforms this abandoned place into a magical one. 🙂

    1. Hi! Hope my reply’s not too late. You can ride blue bus 774 at exit 8 of Bulgwang station (Line 6). After about 17 stops, get off at Byeokje station. Bus ride will take about 40 minutes.

  2. As of Feb 2020, this place is now closed to the public. A big gate has been placed at the entrance of the tunnel and signs are posted everywhere to warn people not to take photos ㅠㅠ

    1. Oh. That’s sad. I wonder why they closed it. Thanks for the information!
